SELECTED WORK
The project ongoing since 2018 and over 600+ individual unique collages created from 40+ different species were created and applied to the streets.
“I create each frame of the animation by ripping apart images I've previously made. Each frame is a collage.”
ABOUT THE SERIES
Kaybid, who uses traditional methods and new media together, examines the transition between these two in his works; In the Silent Steps series, he examines topics such as vitality and movement, being and existence, the city, urbanization and extinction, isolation and existence ethics, Diminished Value and value attribution.
The animal images not only bring about an immediate reaction of compassion, but also due their ubiquity, archaicness and approachability exist beyond all norms and biases. Every single frame of the movement of the animals is created individually, and makes up the cohesive walking animation when watched back to back thus bringing motion and life to the image of the animal.
ANIMATIONS BY YEAR
It took me nearly four years to capture the frames in this film. From beginning to end, in less than a minute, an entire lifetime passes before our eyes. In fact, if you watch each loop only once in sequence, it doesn’t even add up to five seconds. I extended it in the edit through repetition. Everything happens between two blinks of an eye.
